After reading all this, you may worry that writing successful auction descriptions is difficult or a lot of work. It’s not, once you get the hang of it. Take your time crafting effective auction descriptions as you are getting started, and after a while you will find that it becomes second nature.

TITLES:

Sit down with a notebook and a pen, and write out as many keywords as you can think of for your product.

Now do a search on eBay for those keywords. Write down the titles that appeal to you. Open those auctions and look at the corresponding hit counters. Determine which titles appear to get the most hits.

Using the above information as a guide, begin creating your own attention-grabbing titles.

DESCRIPTIONS:

In your binder, list every benefit of your product. Now write a sentence about each benefit and how it relates to a buyer.

Once you have done this, list your item for sale. In the description field, first include all the facts about the product that you are selling. Fill in the rest of the description with the benefit statements you created.
